309 V.S. 310 Austenitic Heat Resistant Stainless Steel

309S and 310S stainless steel are high Cr and Ni heat-resistant austenitic stainless steels, which are low-carbon versions of 309 and 310 respectively. In oxidizing media, it has excellent corrosion resistance and high-temperature mechanical properties. It is suitable for key components such as high-temperature furnace equipment and drying equipment, furnace materials, aviation, petrochemicals, electric power, etc. Oxidation resistance refers to the ability of heat-resistant steel to function at high temperatures for a long time without forming oxide scale or being corroded by the medium. Thermal strength refers to the fact that the spot steel pipe still has a certain strength at high temperatures without massive deformation and fracture.

Compared with most high-temperature alloys, 309 (309S) and 310 (310S) have better high-temperature corrosion resistance. However, stainless steel does not perform as well as Alloy 600 (UNS N06600) or Alloy 800 (UNS N08800) under rarefied, nitrated or carbonated air conditions. Due to the perfect combination of high-temperature performance and corrosion resistance, 309S and 310S are widely used in high-temperature and corrosion-resistant equipment such as boilers, pressure vessels, metallurgical and petrochemical industry equipment parts, among which 309S can withstand repeated heating below 980°C, and 310S can be used at temperatures up to 1200℃.
