ASTM A 333 GR6 is a seamless and welded nominal steel pipe for low temperature applications.

C: ≤0.30

Mn: 0.29-1.06

P: ≤0.025

S: ≤0.025

Si: ≥0.10

Ni: ≤0.40

Cr: ≤0.30

Cu: ≤0.40

V: ≤0.08

Nb: ≤0.02

Mo: ≤0.12

*Manganese content may be increased by 0.05 per cent for each 0.01 per cent decrease in carbon content up to 1.35 per cent.
**Based on the agreement, the niobium content, may be increased up to 0.05 per cent for melting analysis and up to 0.06 per cent for finished product analysis.

A333 GR6 alloy pipe

Heat treatment requirements:

1. Normalising above 815°C. 2.
2. Normalised above 815°C, then tempered.
3. Hot formed between 845-945°C, then cooled in furnace above 845°C (for seamless tubes only).
4. Machined and then tempered as per 3.
5. Tempered after quenching above 815°C.

Mechanical Property Requirements:

Yield strength: ≥240Mpa
Tensile strength: ≥415Mpa

Impact Test

Test Temperature: -45°C
When small Charpy impact specimens are used and the notch width is less than 80% of the actual thickness of the material, a lower impact test temperature should be calculated according to ASTM A333.
