A333 Production methods
ASTM A333 seamless steel pipe, when reheated and under temperature control for hot working and hot finishing operations, shall be set in the temperature range of 845°F to 945°F. This corresponds to finishing in the range of 1550°F to 1750°F. Cooling within this temperature range shall be in air or in a controlled atmosphere, beginning at an initial temperature above 845°C. For ASTM A333 Grade 1, Grade 6, and Grade 10 seamless steel tubing, it is specifically required that heat treatment be started at a uniform temperature of 815°C and above. This should be followed by quenching in liquid and reheating to a suitable tempering temperature.
ASTM A333 Grade 6 pipe is common use material for low temperature services in above -45℃, with yield strength minimum at 240 Mpa, and tensile strength 415 Mpa.
