A179 Cold Down Seamless tubing Description
ASTM A179 specifies seamless cold drawn low carbon superheater steel tubing and condenser steel tubing. The ASTM A179 standard covers specifications for minimum wall thickness for A179 pipe materials. ASTM A179 pipe shall be manufactured using a seamless process and shall be cold drawn. Thermal analysis and product analysis shall be carried out in which the steel shall comply with the required chemical composition of carbon, manganese, phosphorus, and sulfur. The steel must also undergo hardness testing, flattening testing, flaring testing, flange testing, and hydrostatic testing.
