20Cr Precised Cold Drawn Seamless Steel Pipe Description
20Cr steel pipe is a low-hardenability carburizing steel pipe under Chinese standards. Compared to 15Cr steel pipe, it has higher strength and hardenability. The critical quenching diameter ranges from 4 to 22 mm in oil and from 11 to 40 mm in water, but its toughness is relatively poor. This steel pipe tends to experience grain growth during carburizing, and direct quenching after cooling significantly impacts impact toughness. Therefore, a second quenching is necessary after carburizing to improve the core toughness of parts, and it does not exhibit temper brittleness. The steel pipe has high cold strain plasticity, allowing for drawing in a cold state. Its machinability is good when normalized or quenched and tempered at high temperatures but is relatively poor after annealing. 20Cr is pearlitic steel with good weldability, and post-weld heat treatment is generally not required. However, for parts thicker than 15 mm, preheating to 100–150°C before welding is necessary, and post-weld tempering heat treatment can be omitted.
