ASTM A213 TP 310S Stainless Steel Pipe
310H stainless steel is an austenitic stainless steel, which means that its crystal structure is relatively stable at high temperatures.
In 310H stainless steel, the addition of alloying elements such as nickel (Ni), chromium (Cr) and molybdenum (Mo) does play a key role. These elements help maintain the material's stability at high temperatures and enhance its creep resistance.
The main difference between SS 310 and 310H is their carbon content. SS 310 has a lower carbon content, which makes it perform better in lower temperature applications. This is because lower carbon content reduces the precipitation of carbides, thereby increasing the material's ductility and corrosion resistance at room and lower temperatures. However, the higher carbon content in 310H helps improve strength and high temperature resistance.
Compared with 310 stainless steel pipes, SS 310H steel pipes also have higher resistance to carburization and thermal cycling. Carburization is when carbon penetrates the surface of steel, which weakens the steel's corrosion resistance and strength. Higher carbon content helps reduce this penetration, thereby increasing the material's corrosion resistance and strength. Additionally, due to its high carbon content, 310H exhibits better stability when undergoing thermal cycling.
