Corrosion Resistance: Grade 2205 stainless steel has excellent corrosion resistance, far exceeding grade 316 stainless steel. It resists localized corrosion types such as intergranular corrosion, crevice corrosion and pitting corrosion.
Resistance to embrittlement: The embrittlement properties of this type of stainless steel are affected above 300°C. However, this embrittlement can be improved by full solution annealing.
Chloride Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC): This grade is resistant to chloride stress corrosion cracking at temperatures of 150°C.
