ASTM S31803 is a duplex stainless steel. The composition of this stainless steel includes 21% - 23% chromium, 2.5% - 3.5% molybdenum, 4.5-6.5% nickel and 0.08% - 0.20% nitrogen alloy. The specific proportions and combination of these elements give it good mechanical properties and corrosion resistance.
The high strength characteristics of ASTM S31803 enable it to perform well in high-stress environments, and its ability to resist localized stress corrosion is also very useful. The alloy's dual-phase microstructure, austenite and ferrite, gives it the ability to resist a wide range of corrosive ions.
Similar to other types of duplex stainless steel, ASTM S31803 and S32205 are standard duplex stainless steels. They are all nitrogen- and molybdenum-strengthened austenitic ferritic duplex stainless steels. The corrosion resistance of this type of stainless steel is similar to that of 904L in general corrosive environments, but its yield strength is almost twice that of austenitic stainless steel.
In general, ASTM S31803 is a duplex stainless steel with high strength, good corrosion resistance, and excellent resistance to localized stress corrosion. It can be widely used in many harsh corrosive environments.
