Stainless steel 446 pipe also known as UNS S44600 pipe is widely used in various industrial applications.
These tubes are made from a ferritic non-heat treatable stainless steel alloy containing chromium, nickel and carbon. This alloy pipe has excellent resistance to sulfurization, oxidation and other forms of hot corrosion in high temperature environments. These tubes are unhardenable and have excellent thermal conductivity.
These pipes also exhibit excellent resistance to wear, scaling and sulfurization. Basically, these tube alloys are heat-resistant alloys that can withstand molten brass and copper content. However, these pipes become severely embrittled in the temperature range of 700-1000°C. These tubes are highly ductile at the brittle impact transition temperature.
Therefore, low forming speeds and edge treatments contribute to the successful bending and forming of these tubes. The tube has excellent toughness and durability at high temperatures. Forging of these tubes begins at 2100 degrees Fahrenheit and is completed at 1600 degrees Fahrenheit.
