ASTM A234 is a standard specification for forged or wrought steel pipe fittings, including carbon and alloy steel materials suitable for medium and high temperature environments. These fittings include tees, concentric reducers, eccentric reducers, 5D/6D elbows, bends, flappers, plugs, four-way tees, caps, and receivers for use in pressure piping and pressure vessel fabrication at moderate and high temperatures. WPB is by far the most commonly used material for carbon steel fittings for medium and high temperature applications, and it can be made from steel pipe (e.g. ASTM A106 Gr. C) or steel plate (e.g. ASTM A285 GR. C).
