API 5l Gr B PSL2 Steel Pipe Description
API 5L Grade B pipe is a general purpose grade for oil and gas pipeline transmission. Also known as L245 pipe, it is referenced to ISO 3183 and named after the minimum yield strength of 245 Mpa (35,500 Psi). Equivalent materials, ASTM A106 B or ASTM A53 B, have similar values in terms of chemical composition, mechanical properties and applications. PSL2 is a higher specification grade of pipe with more stringent requirements for chemical and mechanical strength. PSL2 also requires additional testing methods such as non-destructive testing, CVN impact testing, DWT, etc.
