ASME B16.9 180 Deg Elbow, Duplex Stainless Steel, 1/2-48 Inch
Sep 15, 2025
What is a 180° Stainless Steel Elbow?
It is a pipe fitting designed to completely reverse the pipeline direction (180° turn), typically made of stainless steel. Due to its shape resembling the letter "U," it is also commonly referred to as a U-bend.
Main Applications:
Space-Constrained Pipeline Layouts
Used to reverse the flow direction in a straight line, bypassing obstacles or adapting to limited space.
Thermal Expansion Compensation
In long straight pipelines, it absorbs stress caused by thermal expansion and contraction, serving as a "natural compensator" and reducing the need for expansion joints.
Equipment Connections
Connects two ports on the same axis but in opposite directions, such as the inlet and outlet of a heat exchanger's tube side.
Process Requirements
Certain industrial processes require a 180° flow direction change for the medium.
