ASTM A333/ ASME SA333 Steel Pipe for Low-Temperature
Dec 05, 2025
What is A333 Pipe material
A333 is a seamless steel pipe produced in accordance with the American standard ASTM A333/A333M, designed for low-temperature service. The manufacturing of this steel imposes stringent requirements on its chemical composition and mechanical properties to ensure it maintains excellent toughness and strength in cryogenic environments. A333 steel is widely used in applications such as petrochemical plants, refrigeration equipment, and low-temperature storage tanks, where it must withstand extremely cold conditions.

Test Methods:
Tensile Testing: Conducted per ASTM A370 to determine mechanical properties (e.g., tensile strength, yield strength).
Impact Testing: Notched-bar impact testing (ASTM E23) to evaluate low-temperature toughness.
Hydrostatic Testing: Performed as needed to verify sealing integrity and strength, with pressure/duration complying with standards.
Non-Destructive Testing (NDT): Optional methods (e.g., eddy current, ultrasonic) to detect internal/surface defects.
