What is the difference between LR elbow and SR elbow?
Both long and short radius elbows can be used to join pipes and have the same inner and outer diameters, angles and wall thicknesses. However, it is not easy to distinguish between the two due to their similar appearance.

Elbows are divided into two groups, which define the distance at which they change direction: from one end to the centerline of the other face. This is called the "center-to-face" distance and is equivalent to the radius of your elbow's bend.
The center-to-face distance of a "long" radius elbow, the center-to-end distance of an LR radius elbow is 1.5 times the NPS in inches (R=1.5D), and the SR radius equals NPS in inches ) (R=1.0D). 45°, 90° and 180° elbows, all three are available in "long radius" versions, while the 90° and 180° elbows are available in "short radius" versions.
Dimensions, dimensional tolerances, etc. for long and short radius elbows are defined in ASME B16.9. ASME B16.9 standardizes center-to-face dimensions and some "squareness" dimensional tolerances.

Use LR elbow or SR elbow?
1. Short radius elbows are used in narrow areas and long radius elbows are used in normal working conditions.
2. The erosion and wear performance of long-radius elbows is better than that of short-radius elbows.
3. The position of the two elbows should be determined according to the actual situation, because the position is necessary.
