90° Elbow Description
90° elbow, also known as a two-section circular pipe elbow, is a key turning connector in the piping system. It achieves vertical change of fluid direction through precise 90-degree right-angle design and is widely used in water supply and drainage, HVAC, gas, industrial pipelines and other fields.
Classification of 90 degree elbows
1. Classification by material
- Stainless steel: corrosion-resistant, high strength, suitable for clean environments such as chemical, food, and medical.
- Carbon steel: low cost, high strength, commonly used in industrial pipelines and ordinary building pipelines.
- Copper: good thermal conductivity, easy to process, mostly used in heating and air conditioning pipeline systems.
- Cast iron: strong wear resistance, suitable for heavy-duty pipelines such as sewage and fire protection.
2. Classification by connection method
- Threaded connection (thread): suitable for small-diameter pipelines, easy to install, and commonly used for galvanized steel pipes.
- Welding connection: high strength, good sealing, suitable for metal pipelines such as carbon steel and stainless steel.
- Clamp connection: quick connection through clamps and rubber sealing rings, easy to disassemble, mostly used for fire protection, water supply and drainage pipelines.

3. Classification by curvature radius
- Short radius elbow (R=1D): The curvature radius is small, which takes up less space, but the fluid resistance is large, and it is suitable for scenes with limited space.
- Long radius elbow (R=1.5D): The curvature radius is large, the fluid flow is smoother, and the resistance is small. It is widely used in industrial pipeline systems (D is the nominal diameter of the pipeline).
