Products Description
A stainless steel plug valve consists of a valve body, a plug (tapered or cylindrical), a stem, and a seal. Its core principle is to manually or electrically actuate the valve stem, rotating the plug 90 degrees. The valve opens or closes the flow channel by aligning or offsetting the through-holes in the plug body with the valve body's flow path. For example, a DN50 (nominal diameter 50 mm) plug valve is typically made of 304 or 316 stainless steel, with a pressure resistance of up to 1.6 MPa (referring to GB/T 12240-2021 standard), making it suitable for acidic and alkaline media and high-temperature environments.
Compared to conventional gate valves, plug valves offer lower flow resistance, faster opening and closing speeds (requiring only a quarter turn), and even wear on the sealing surface. Their tapered plug design also allows for adjustable compression to compensate for seal wear, extending their service life to over 10 years.
Advantages of Stainless Steel Plug Valves
1. The inlet and outlet windows of the valve body are designed with a double-grooved sealing ring structure. As the plug rotates, the sealing pressure between the sealing pairs gradually changes until it reaches the fully open or fully closed position, generating sufficient sealing pressure and achieving zero leakage.
2. The double-grooved sealing ring secures the PTFE bushing in the valve body and prevents displacement. It also absorbs minor bushing deformation caused by temperature fluctuations. It also creates a strong wiping action between the bushing and the plug, extending the service life of the sealing surface.
3. The entire sealing process can be considered independent of the pipeline pressure.
4. Different filler materials are used within the PTFE bushing according to the operating temperature and working medium, ensuring excellent lubrication and long service life.
