ASTM a209 Gr. T1 Alloy Steel Seamless Tubes
Nov 05, 2025
A209T1 Steel Pipe is primarily based on carbon steel, typically containing small amounts of alloying elements to enhance its mechanical properties. It offers moderate tensile and yield strength, meeting general industrial requirements. Compared to other types of steel pipes, A209T1 performs well in welding and cold bending processes, with minimal risk of cracking or deformation. Its surface treatment provides certain corrosion resistance, making it suitable for long-term use in ordinary environments.
A209T1 Alloy Pipe (ASME SA-209 Standard) is a carbon-molybdenum alloy seamless steel pipe with the following chemical composition:
Molybdenum (Mo, 0.44%-0.65%): A key element that enhances high-temperature creep resistance, with a tensile strength of ≥515 MPa at 510°C.
Carbon (C, 0.15%-0.25%) and Manganese (Mn, 0.30%-0.80%): Work synergistically to increase material strength, achieving a room-temperature tensile strength of 630 MPa.
Silicon (Si, 0.10%-0.50%): Forms an anti-oxidation protective layer, reducing the corrosion rate in high-temperature steam.
Low Sulfur and Phosphorus (S/P ≤ 0.025%): Controlled through vacuum degassing refining to ensure material purity.
Performance Advantages
High-Temperature Stability
Long-term service at 510°C, with creep resistance 3 times higher than ordinary carbon steel, meeting the requirements of 590°C/31.2 MPa in power plant boiler superheaters.
Maintains structural integrity for short-term operation at 800°C, with a thermal expansion coefficient ≤12.6×10⁻⁶/°C.
Corrosion Resistance
No rust after 2000 hours in 3.5% NaCl salt spray testing.
Annual corrosion rate ≤0.03 mm in sulfide environments.
Excellent high-temperature oxidation resistance, with an oxidation rate ≤0.05 mm/year at 850°C.
Process Adaptability
Supports flame cutting (for wall thickness >30 mm) and laser cutting (precision ±0.1 mm), with a cut surface roughness Ra ≤1.6 μm.
Welding using TIG process (ER80S filler wire), with no post-weld heat treatment required and weld strength reaching 95% of the base metal.
This material is ideal for high-temperature and high-pressure applications in power plants, petrochemicals, and other demanding industrial environments.
