Is SA 213 stainless steel?
SA213 is the general specification for seamless steel tubes for boilers, superheaters and heat exchangers in the ASME standard, which covers materials including stainless steel and other alloy steels. The materials covered by SA213 include stainless steel and other alloy steels, which are classified as follows:
1. Stainless steel materials included in SA213
The SA213 standard specifies austenitic stainless steel grades, typical representatives include:
TP347H/TP347HFG: chromium-nickel stainless steel containing niobium (Nb), corresponding to the domestic grade 1Cr19Ni11Nb.
Characteristics: intergranular corrosion resistance, high-temperature oxidation resistance (applicable temperature ≤ 650 ℃), widely used in supercritical units of high-temperature superheater tube.
TP304H/TP316H: high-carbon austenitic stainless steel, used for heat-resistant parts of high-pressure boilers. 2.
2. Non-stainless steel materials covered by SA213
The SA213 standard also covers other materials such as chromium-molybdenum alloy steels, for example:
T91 (9Cr-1Mo-V): martensitic heat-resistant steel for high-temperature pressurised pipework (e.g. superheater header ductwork).
T2 (low chromium-molybdenum steel): low alloy steel, corresponding to the domestic 12CrMoG, used for medium temperature boiler tubes.
3. Comparison of standard material ranges
| Type | Grades | Material Type | application |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stainless Steel | TP347H,TP304H | austenitic stainless steel | High-temperature and high-pressure superheater and reheater tubes |
| Alloy Steel | T91,T2 | Chromium-molybdenum alloy steel | Medium and high temperature pressurised piping and manifold components |
The SA213 standard includes both stainless steel (e.g. TP347H) and non-stainless steel materials (e.g. T91, T2), and the type of material needs to be determined according to the specific grade.
