What is T2 material?
SA213 T2 is a low carbon chromium-molybdenum alloy steel in ASME SA-213/SA-213M standard, specialised in high temperature pressurised piping systems for boilers and superheaters, and is analysed in detail below:
1. Chemical Composition and Domestic Equivalent Grades
Core Composition (mass per cent):
Chromium (Cr): 0.50%~0.81%
Molybdenum (Mo): 0.44%~0.65
Carbon (C): ≤0.15 per cent
Impurity control: sulfur (S), phosphorus (P) ≤ 0.025%.
Domestic equivalent grades:
12CrMoG (GB/T 5310), chemical composition and performance and SA213 T2 highly matched.
2. Performance characteristics
High temperature resistance: long-term use temperature ≤ 540 ℃, short-term up to 580 ℃, suitable for subcritical unit boiler heating surface piping.
Processing and welding: low carbon design to enhance the welding performance, welding needs to be preheated 150 ~ 200 ℃, post-weld tempering treatment.
Mechanical properties:
Tensile strength ≥ 415 MPa
Yield strength ≥ 205 MPa.
3. Application Scenario
Power industry: boiler superheater tube, reheater tube, especially for small diameter pipes (such as internal threaded pipe) to enhance heat transfer efficiency. Petrochemical industry: high-temperature oil and gas pipelines
Petrochemical industry: low-pressure section of high-temperature oil and gas pipeline, sulphide corrosion resistance to meet the needs of refining.
4. Distinction from T22
SA213 T2 and T22 belong to the same chromium-molybdenum alloy steel, but the chromium and molybdenum content of T22 is higher (Cr 1.90%~2.60%, Mo 0.87%~1.13%), corresponding to the domestic grade is 12Cr2MoG, high-temperature strength (applicable temperature ≤ 580 ℃), commonly used in supercritical unit main steam piping.
Summary: SA213 T2 is a low chromium-molybdenum heat-resistant steel in ASME standard, the domestic equivalent of 12CrMoG (GB/T 5310), suitable for boiler medium-temperature pressurised parts, and its economy and ease of machinability in the sub-critical units Its economy and ease of processing have advantages in sub-critical units
