The difference between hot rolled pipe, cold rolled pipe, cold drawn pipe

Oct 29, 2024

1. Differences in types of processing:
Hot rolled pipe using hot processing
Cold-drawn tube using cold working process
2. Different rolling temperatures:
Hot rolling is rolled above the recrystallisation temperature of 727 ℃, cold rolling is rolled below the recrystallisation temperature of 727 ℃.

3. processing raw materials are different:
Cold rolled and hot rolled is generally sheet or profile, while cold drawn is generally a cylindrical cross-section of wire rod.
In addition, hot rolled sheet is generally higher alloy content, higher strength steel.
While cold rolled is low carbon and low alloy steel, by cold rolling can improve the strength and ensure the surface quality of the material.
4. Diameter range is different
From the appearance of cold rolled seamless steel pipe is often small diameter, hot rolled seamless steel pipe is often large diameter.

5. Steel pipe precision is different
The precision of cold rolled seamless steel pipe is higher than that of hot rolled seamless steel pipe, and the price is also higher than that of hot rolled seamless steel pipe.
6. Different pipe size
Cold-drawn seamless pipe is generally smaller calibre, mostly below 127mm, especially the precision of the outer diameter of cold-drawn seamless pipe is very high, and the length of cold-drawn seamless pipe is generally shorter than that of hot-rolled seamless pipe. Wall thickness of cold-drawn seamless pipe is more uniform than hot-rolled seamless pipe.
