What is 15crmo material properties
Jan 06, 2026
15CrMo steel is a pearlitic heat-resistant steel pipe with high thermal strength (δb≥440MPa) and oxidation resistance at high temperatures, and also has a certain resistance to hydrogen corrosion. Due to the high content of Cr, C and other alloying elements in the steel, the steel has a significant tendency to harden and poor weldability.
Key Characteristics: Why is it so "high-temperature resistant"?
1. High-Temperature Stability: At temperatures ranging from 450℃ to 600℃, the strength and toughness of 15CrMo steel pipe remain stable (according to industry testing data, the yield strength can reach over 250MPa at 550℃).
2. Corrosion Resistance: The oxide film formed by chromium can isolate the pipe from corrosive media, making it commonly used in pipeline systems transporting steam, heavy oil, and other media.
3. Balanced Mechanical Properties: Its seamless structure gives it superior impact and fatigue resistance compared to welded steel pipes, resulting in a longer service life.
Common Application Scenarios:
1. Power Industry: Boiler superheaters, reheater pipes, high-pressure steam pipes for steam turbines, etc., serving as "guardians" of high-temperature steam transportation.
2. Petrochemical Industry: Hydrogenation reactors, heat exchangers, pyrolysis furnace tubes, exhibiting stability in corrosive media such as acids and alkalis.
3. Machinery Manufacturing: Automotive drive shaft sleeves, pressure vessels, combining strength and lightweight advantages.
Chemical Composition
The chemical composition of 15CrMo is as follows:
· Carbon (C): 0.12% - 0.18%
· Silicon (Si): 0.17% - 0.37%
· Manganese (Mn): 0.40% - 0.70%
· Chromium (Cr): 0.80% - 1.10%
· Molybdenum (Mo): 0.40% - 0.55%
· Phosphorus (P): ≤0.035%
· Sulfur (S): ≤0.035% The proportions of these components endow 15CrMo with excellent mechanical properties and heat resistance.
Mechanical Properties
The mechanical properties of 15CrMo are as follows:
• Tensile Strength (Rm): 440 MPa - 640 MPa
• Yield Strength (RP0.2): 295 MPa
• Elongation (A%): 22%
