1. Material Definition and Standard Attribution
ASTM A335 P2 is a seamless ferritic alloy steel pipe for high temperature applications, conforming to ASTM A335/A335M standard.
This material is designed for high temperature and high pressure working conditions, mainly used in boilers, superheaters and piping systems of petrochemical equipment.
2. Chemical composition and alloy properties
| composition | content | function |
|---|---|---|
| C | 0.05–0.15% | Increased hardness and strength |
| Cr | 1.9–2.6% | Enhanced resistance to high temperature oxidation |
| Mo | 0.87–1.13% | Improved creep and corrosion resistance |
| Mn | 0.30–0.60% | Improved toughness and processability |
| Si | ≤0.50% | Deoxygenation and strengthening of the matrix |
Through chromium and molybdenum alloying, A335 P2 can still maintain excellent mechanical properties and corrosion resistance in environments below 600°C.
3. Mechanical properties and application scenarios
Yield strength: ≥205 MPa
Tensile strength: ≥415 MPa
Application field:
Power industry: boilers, steam pipes and high temperature parts of supercritical units.
Petrochemical industry: pipelines containing sulphur and high-temperature media.
Pressure vessels: vessel connection pipes that need to withstand high pressure and high temperature for a long time.
4. International equivalent grade
Chinese standard: the equivalent grade is 12Cr2MoG (GB/T 5310).
German standard: equivalent to 10CrMo910 (DIN 17175).
Note
The ASTM A335 standard contains 14 grades (e.g. P11, P22, P91, etc.), and P2 is used as the basic chromium-molybdenum steel, with a lower performance than the highly alloyed P22 or P91 materials.
When purchasing, it is necessary to check the quality certificate strictly to avoid confusion with other grades.
