Apr 02, 2025
1. Basic Definition
SA335 P5 is an American Standard ferritic alloy seamless steel pipe for high-temperature use, belonging to the Cr-Mo (chromium-molybdenum) alloy steel series, with the executive standard being ASTM A335/A335M (equivalent to ASME SA-335), designed for petrochemical, electric power and other high temperature and high pressure scenarios. It is designed for use in petrochemical, electric power, and other high-temperature and high-pressure scenarios.
2. Chemical Components
| element | Content range(%) |
|---|---|
| C | ≤0.15~0.20 |
| Cr | 4.0~6.0(Domestic 12Cr5Mo counterparts) |
| Mo | 0.45~0.65 |
| Mn | ≤1.0 |
| Si | ≤0.5 |
| P,S | ≤0.03 |
3. Core Characteristics
High Temperature Performance
Long-term temperature resistance up to 700 °C, strong creep resistance, and high temperature to maintain stable mechanical strength.
Corrosion Resistance
Cr-Mo alloy is designed to effectively resist oxidation, vulcanisation, and corrosion of acid and alkali media.
Weldability
Pre/post heat treatment can reduce weld cracks, and it is suitable for all types of welding processes.
4. Applications
Petroleum Refining: Cracking unit heating furnace pipe, heat exchanger pipe.
Power Industry: High-pressure boiler, nuclear power plant cooling system, and superheater pipes.
Chemical Equipment: Hydrogenation reactor, steam generator pipe fittings.
5. Comparison of Domestic and Foreign Brands
American Standard: SA335 P5 (ASTM/ASME system).
National Standard: 12Cr5Mo (old grade 1Cr5Mo).
Production and Inspection
Process: Hot rolled or cold drawn seamless moulding, which needs to comply with RoHS environmental standards.
Testing: Needs to pass ultrasonic flaw detection, hardness test, and high-temperature tensile test.
