What size is ASTM A213 alloy pipe
Apr 01, 2025
1. Outer Diameter Range
The regular outside diameter ranges from 21.3 mm to 762 mm, which is approximately 0.84 inches to 30 inches.
Examples of typical specifications include:
Small diameter pipes: 16 mm, 20 mm, 27 mm;
Large diameter pipes: 355 mm, 762 mm.
2. the Range of Wall Thickness
Common wall thickness: 2.0 mm (for small diameter pipe);
Maximum wall thickness: 130 mm (for large diameter pipe or special demand scenarios);
Common wall thickness combinations include:
Thin-walled tubes: 1-5 mm (such as 20 mm × 1-5, 27 mm × 2-5);
Thick-walled tubes: 7-40 mm (such as 355 mm × 7-40, 95 mm × 2.5-16).
3. the Production Mode and Delivery Status
Production forms include hot rolling, cold drawing, and hot expansion processes.
Delivery status is subject to heat treatment (such as annealing, normalising, etc.) to ensure that the mechanical properties meet the standards.
4. Special Size Limitations
Small diameter thin-walled pipes, such as those with an internal diameter less than 3.2 mm or a wall thickness less than 0.038 mm, may not have mechanical properties requirements apply (refer to similar standards ASTM A312).
Ultra-thick-walled tubes, with wall thicknesses up to 130 mm, need to ensure internal organisational uniformity through a strict heat treatment process.
5. Typical Application Matching Size
| Applications | Recommended size range (OD x wall thickness) | Grade |
|---|---|---|
| Boiler superheater/reheater | Ф21.3×2.0 ~ Ф127×10 mm | T11,T22,T911 |
| Petrochemical high temperature pipeline | Ф60×12 ~ Ф355×40 mm | TP310HCbN,TP347H35 |
| heat exchanger | Ф16×1 ~ Ф89×17.5 mm | T2,T5,T9 |
