Is A213 stainless steel
Apr 01, 2025
ASTM A213 is a standard covering stainless steel and alloy steel, and its specific materials need to be distinguished according to the grade:
1. A213 standard stainless steel categories
Austenitic stainless steel:
TP310HCbN (corresponding to UNS S31042): containing Cr ≥ 24%, Ni ≥ 19%, is an austenitic stainless steel, used for high-temperature boilers and corrosion-resistant pipelines.
TP347HFG (S34710): high-temperature stainless steel containing niobium (Nb) for superheaters and reheaters in supercritical boilers.
Compositional characteristics:
Typical austenitic stainless steel contains Cr about 18%, Ni 8% ~ 10%, with non-magnetic, high toughness, and corrosion resistance, but lower strength.
2. Non-stainless steel materials in A213
Ferritic alloy steel:
A213 standard also contains ferritic alloy steel pipe (such as T11, T22, etc.), this type of material does not contain a high proportion of nickel-chromium, and is not stainless steel.
Whether A213 is stainless steel or not needs to be determined according to the specific grade.
