What is the composition of ASTM A213 T11 alloy steel pipe

Jan 07, 2026

ASTM A213 T11 seamless steel pipe is a low-alloy chromium-molybdenum steel with a chromium content of 1.00-1.50% and a molybdenum content of 0.44-0.65%. This alloy ratio endows the material with good high-temperature strength and mild reaction performance. In practical applications, T11 steel pipe can maintain stable mechanical properties in high-temperature environments below 593°C, making it particularly suitable for manufacturing critical components such as superheater tubes and reheater tubes for power plant boilers. Compared with ordinary carbon steel, T11 steel has significantly improved creep resistance at high temperatures, greatly extending the service life of equipment.

The chemical composition requirements for A213 T11 seamless steel pipes are as follows:

  • C: 0.05-0.15
  • Mn: 0.30-0.60
  • P: ≤0.025
  • S: ≤0.025
  • Si: 0.50-1.00
  • Cr: 1.00-1.50
  • Mo: 0.44-0.65

A213 T11 alloy steel pipe Applications

1. Power Plant Boiler Systems: Used as superheater and reheater piping, enduring extreme conditions of 580°C/15MPa. Data from a supercritical unit project shows that T11 steel pipe exhibits only 0.2% creep deformation after 100,000 hours of operation.

2. Petroleum Refining Units: Used as pipelines in hydrogenation reactors, exhibiting superior resistance to hydrogen erosion compared to 304 stainless steel.

3. Nuclear Power Auxiliary Systems: Utilizes as secondary loop heat exchange tubes in AP1000 units, with a cumulative service volume exceeding 2000 tons.
