What is the difference between T11 and T22 material?
A213 T11 and T22 are unified standard alloy steel tubes, mainly used in high temperature and high pressure environments, such as boilers, superheaters and heat exchangers. They differ in chemical composition, mechanical properties and application areas:
Chemical composition:
A213 T11: the content of carbon (C) between 0.05-0.15%, silicon (Si) content between 0.50-1.00%, manganese (Mn) content between 0.30-0.60%, phosphorus (P) and sulfur (S) content are not more than 0.025%, chromium (Cr) content between 1.00-1.50%, and molybdenum (Mo) content between 0.44-0.65%.
A213 T22: Carbon (C) content in the range of 0.05-0.15%, manganese (Mn) content in the range of 0.30-0.60%, phosphorus (P) and sulphur (S) content are not more than 0.025%, chromium (Cr) content in the range of 1.90-2.60%, molybdenum (Mo) content in the range of 0.87-1.13%, and the content of nickel (Ni) is not more than 0.50%.
Mechanical properties:
A213 T11: Tensile strength of at least 415 MPa, yield strength of at least 170 MPa, and elongation of at least 30%.
A213 T22: Tensile strength of at least 415 MPa, yield strength of at least 205 MPa, elongation of at least 30%.
Areas of application:
Both A213 T11 and A213 T22 are widely used in petrochemical, power and nuclear applications, especially in pipelines, heat exchangers and other high-temperature components where high temperatures and corrosive environments are required.
To summarise, A213 T22 differs from A213 T11 in terms of chemical composition and mechanical properties, with A213 T22 containing higher levels of chromium and molybdenum, which makes it superior in terms of high temperature strength and corrosion resistance.
