EN10216-2 Steam Boiler Tubes for Pressure Vessels

Jun 04, 2025

 Core standards and scope of application ‌
‌Standard specification‌
EN10216-2 is the general standard for seamless steel pipes for pressure equipment in Europe, specifically for boilers, pressure vessels and high-temperature and high-pressure piping systems in the petrochemical industry.
‌Application scenarios‌
‌Boiler components‌: water-cooled walls, superheaters, reheaters, air preheating pipes and steam pipes; ‌Working parameters‌: ‌Low-pressure boilers: working pressure ≤5.88MPa, temperature ≤450℃; ‌High-pressure boilers: working pressure ≥9.8MPa, temperature 450℃~650℃. ‌

 Common materials and performance‌
1. ‌Typical steel grades and characteristics

Grade Type Features and Applications
P235GH Carbon Steel Low-cost basic pipe material, suitable for medium-low temperature and low pressure conditions
15Mo3/WB36 Molybdenum Alloy Steel Excellent high temperature strength and creep resistance (≈ national standard 15CrMo)
10CrMo910 Chromium-Molybdenum Alloy Steel Resistant to 650℃ high temperature corrosion, used for high pressure superheater tubes

2. Key performance requirements High temperature strength: Need to pass the long-term creep test to ensure long-term high temperature stability; Sealing: 100% non-destructive testing (ultrasound + eddy current), water pressure test pressure ≥1.5 times the working pressure.
 Specifications and process requirements

Size range

Outer diameter: 4.0mm~760mm (small diameter tubes are used for heat exchangers, large diameter tubes are used for main steam pipes);

Wall thickness: 0.5mm~50mm, high pressure conditions commonly use wall thickness ≥12mm.

Manufacturing process

Hot rolling/cold drawing seamless process, welding is prohibited (to avoid weld failure under high temperature and high pressure);

The surface needs shot peening or coating protection (such as aluminizing) to improve the ability to resist smoke corrosion.
